Waking Life

Richard Linklater’s waking life is a visual depiction of a seeker of reality who finally merges into it and disappears. The film starts with a young kid playing a game in which his destiny is suggested to be dreaming.  The kid moves out of the game and starts floating in the air as if in a lucid dream. Then he finds himself growing up and talking to various philosophers, experts, people at random and friends. He finds himself in many strange situations but after every one of them he finds that he was merely dreaming. Sometimes he is one of the characters, sometimes  merely a witness, sometimes an onlooker and sometimes merely watching a TV show—all in a dream. Towards the end he finds himself talking to a person in a bar playing Foosball–who tells him about a novel by Philip K. Dick. The novel tells about falsity of time and space and reality which dawned upon the author all of a sudden. The kid asks about the method to wake up and the person tells him to simply wake up! He wakes up on his bed and finds himself dreaming. He then again discovers many things like time, space, quantum mechanics, language, psychology, biology, society and life. Finally he finds out that he has been meeting same people mostly…and those people didn’t have any substantial reality other than shadowy personas projected by his memories, fears, desires, habits, likes and dislikes. He finally reaches to his home where his destiny was revealed to be the dream. Realizing that there was no destiny whatsoever he starts flying once again to disappear and merge into reality. Into his own Self.

Inland Empire And Rabbits!

David Lynch’s Inland Empire is a film with many metaphors. The rabbits are people with personalities busy in their private dreams. Their incoherent dialogues represent Karma of humanity and gods appearing occasionally represent supra-mental forces thriving on fear and desire. The audience which keeps laughing on performance of rabbits is witnessing consciousness. The girl who is watching the TV show all the time is also witnessing consciousness. The actress meets the girl in the room in the end of the film–which is self rediscovering itself after forgetfulness. The husband of the actress who is the magician represents mind with its many tricks–which makes her forget herself–therefore she traverses through many lives and cultures searching for her own self. The longest running radio show is a suggestion to tell that entire thing takes place inside space-time–while witnessing consciousness is beyond space-time and beyond mind(magician.) The witnessing consciousness in form of the girls represents various experiences across various times and places. The woman who appears in the beginning tells a tale–she stands for the negative aspect of mind which creates evil, Karma and destiny where there is none. Rabbits are mysterious and they represent unconscious mind–because Karma gets created via incoherent words, memories and suggestions. The search for mysterious and beautiful is search for dreams, intrigue and reality–but in the end it ends where it starts–in the Self–the girl finds herself. Reality is neither one nor many–it’s. The blurring between reality and film as well as past, present and future becoming one suggest that the witnessing consciousness(girl) traverses beyond space and time–across multiverses. The reality can’t be expressed in words much less via a film but I feel this film is a great attempt to paint a picture of Self rediscovering itself as beyond space-time, beyond religions and business–beyond taboos and relations and beyond dreams, paranoia and trauma. Kudos to David Lynch and team!

How your universe collapses and awareness emerges afresh?

Everything which was keeping you fast asleep starts helping you wake up when it’s about time. If you like reading fiction or watching films it will also help you wake up as much as meditation, religion or anything else will. There is no cause for awakening or sleep. When it’s beginning of awakening you see intense suffering and effort on your part which is mostly for your ripening. When you have no desires anymore–only a great longing for peace or truth you realize your Self. Then meditation becomes spontaneous and you realize that you never did anything because yours was no effort at all–it was as if a superpower was working inside your heart all along–which was your true nature. This knowledge takes some time to get well integrated into your system. Beginning of awakening, middle and end are all contained in this moment in NOW–in the ever present. That which appears to happen doesn’t have an existence–that which is true foundation of each event never appears, can’t experienced, can’t be pointed to and can’t be expressed in words albeit by denial of all perceived and imagined.  Continue reading “How your universe collapses and awareness emerges afresh?”

Play of Three Modes of Energy!

Desires fulfilled breed more desires. There’s a story of a monster called Raktabeeja–in a divine war this monster was almost unconquerable. The moment someone spilled its blood it used to recreate a thousand more similar to the original. Then the great illusory potency Mahamaya of God created a form Kaali which is the fierce demoniacal form of mother goddess. This destructive form is also known as Nritti. Nritti slayed the demon of desires and yet its anger is so fierce that entire universe was being destroyed–then Shiva comes to the rescue of the world and lies down in the battle field. The mother steps on Shiva but realizing him to be her master sticks her tongue out.    Continue reading “Play of Three Modes of Energy!”

Sahaja Samadhi And Burning Of Karma!

The natural state burns away all Karma. Nirvikalpa Samadhi also burns Karma but unless you reach Sahaja–the spontaneous and easy living in day to day life–living without desires and fear–you can’t burn away all reactions. You come out of all exalted states which aren’t Sahaja and then everyday worries and fears catch hold of you. When the natural state dawns–the deletion of reactions becomes rapid and ultimately immediate in such a way that everyday life sinks below consciousness–i. e. you don’t get too concerned with mind stuff–in fact it becomes mostly difficult to bring about thoughts but all situations which need response are dealt with intelligence. Since reactions are created in being active before awakening–non-doing is needed for gaining renegade state–thereafter non doing becomes spontaneous and no matter what you do you do nothing and nothing ever goes WRONG!

Liberation is freedom from wrong ideas about oneself–because world is merely a reflection of it. When there is no fear or desire left and you consider yourself the world–you are accepted and you accept everything–flowing with life at ease. Easy is right and right is spontaneous. The noble virtue of non-doing burns away all reactions giving the ability to meet situations head-on.

Death and Rebirth!

You die every moment to be reborn,

The threads of memory are sewn into a rag,

Which seems like a continuous persona,

The threads are hollow and so is the rag which you carry around shoulders,

The real you is born every moment and Now is its mantra,

There is no tantra vaster than that of memories, fears, worries and expectations,

If you clasp the rock-solid reality it slips through, Continue reading “Death and Rebirth!”

Reality!

Who thinks himself separate from the world,

Let him help the world,

Projecting a question, and an answer,

You play with yourself,

The only thing worth knowing is this: Continue reading “Reality!”

Time!

Absolute is neither conscious nor unconscious because it’s beyond consciousness. It’s homogeneous, continuous and without any gaps or divisions of any kind. Words don’t reach it neither imagination does. It’s consciousness in which imagination creates various names and universes. Time and space are both creators and destroyers of perception and perception is creator of both time and space though perception can’t destroy time and space.

From the viewpoint of consciousness variations and discontinuity can’t exist without time and space. Time is change and change is time. Time’s passage is not independent of thoughts and thoughts aren’t independent of time. Time and thoughts come into existence together and disappear together. There is no possibility of infinite pleasure because consciousness is consciousness of change. Time doesn’t allow infinite pleasure or pain. Consciousness is also impermanent because awareness is not describable–it’s not a concept. It’s dark and mysterious as far as consciousness trapped in mind forms is concerned but Truth is that it alone is and thought forms don’t exist. That which has a beginning has an end and is therefore hollow.

Absolute!

Absolute is not dilute,

Rock solid dense.

Density doesn’t exist,

Only the immense.

This is Absolute,

Only absolute exists,

not a state,

It contains all states inside it,

It’s not silence for silence needs anti-silence to exist,

Since two things aren’t and only the one is,

silence and anti-silence can’t exist. Continue reading “Absolute!”

Non-doing!

father of being, Continue reading “Non-doing!”
